Duck is a waterfowl bird; its body needs a special diet. Modern feed perfectly copes with this task. They have all the useful substances and vitamins necessary for the bird’s body. However, there are several subtleties in the organization of the duck’s nutrition plan that need to be taken into account.
Types of feed for domestic ducks
In order for the duck to receive all the necessary set of nutritious and useful trace elements, it needs to add a sufficient lot of proteins and carbohydrates to its food.
The duck receives carbohydrates when using various compound feeds, which can be conditionally divided into:
- cereal feed and waste from agricultural processed raw materials;
- root vegetables;
- animal feed;
- vitamin and mineral feed.
You can buy vitamin feeds and mineral top dressing at the pet supply store, there is a wide variety of them there. You can also get advice on pet care if you have any questions.
Vitamin feeds are aimed at obtaining minerals and carotene, which is necessary to maintain the functioning of internal organs and the proper development of the bird’s body.
What is wrong with feeding ducks?
In no case should you feed raw bread to domestic ducks, especially with mold. Such food causes dysbiosis and disorder of the gastrointestinal tract in the bird’s body. It can be served only in the form of crackers and in moderate quantities.
It is necessary to monitor the consumption of poultry vegetables such as cucumber and squash. Their excessive use provokes the excretion of calcium.
